Sundays
We meet on Sunday mornings at 10.30am at Orchard Park Primary School.
Our time together on Sundays is about 4 big things:
‘[B]e filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord…’ - Ephesians 5:19
On Sundays, we take plenty of time to praise God and encourage each other through song.
All song lyrics are provided and we don’t care about your skill level, as long we make a joyful noise!
‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. - Philippians 4:6’
As Christians, we believe that we have an amazing opportunity to speak directly God in prayer.
Every Sunday, we always take time to pray together. We give thanks to God for the many things he has done through the week. We also make requests for the wider world, Orchard Park, and for each other.
There is no expectation to speak out loud - just join in with ‘Amen’ if you want.
‘All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousnes…’ - 2 Timothy 3:16
At St. John’s Orchard Park, we believe that looking at the Bible together is the most important thing we can do. As we read the Bible, we can actually hear God speaking to us in His Word!
The heart of our meeting is a reading from the Bible, followed by a talk on the same Bible passage.
The talk will last from 25-30 minutes. An outline is provided to help you follow along.
‘Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household…’ - Ephesians 2:19
We believe every Christian is a precious part of God’s big family. After every service, we take time to have tea and coffee together. Many weeks, we also share a meal together after the service. You are welcome to join us.
We also think that people of all ages and stages are important. We have singles, married couples, and families with us. Children are more than welcome. We offer Sunday Club for ages 4-11. Our Rooted group for teens (11+) meets regularly after the service to chat and pray. We also offer a creche area where you can supervise your 0-3s. But if you want to keep your child with you in the service, that's also OK. A bit of noise won't bother us!
You may not be religious. You may not think there is a God. You may never have been to church before. But wherever you are in life, we would love to welcome you!
