Who We Are

St John’s is a church family for Orchard Park. We are a mix of ordinary people from different backgrounds and different walks of life. We’re discovering together that through Jesus Christ God loves us more than we imagine and more than we deserve.

We are a small church with a big mix of people. Our congregation includes singles, families, children, students, retirees - people at every stage of life! We come from many different backgrounds and nationalities, representing countries and cultures from across the world.

The church was started in 2012 with a particular desire to serve the Orchard Park community. This continues to shape who we are today. We care deeply about loving and serving our local area, while helping people get to know Jesus and grow in Christian faith.

Our church is informal and welcoming. We meet in a local school hall, sing a mixture of traditional hymns and contemporary songs, pray together, and read the Bible. We hear clear Bible teaching that aims to be faithful, practical, and easy to understand.

At the heart of church life is a commitment to teaching the Bible clearly. We believe that knowing the Bible is for everyone. So, we try not to assume prior knowledge or use confusing language, Whether you are completely new to church, curious about Christianity, or have been a Christian for many years, we hope you will feel at home.

We are especially accessible for families, with Sunday School, a crèche area, and children always welcome in the service.

We value being a church family where people are known, cared for, and encouraged in faith. Church life often continues after the service over tea, coffee, and frequently a shared meal together.

If church is new to you, you are very welcome to come along, listen, observe, and ask honest questions about the Christian faith — not only to the vicar, but to anyone in the church family.
